Sweet dreams are made of these...
Pregnancy in general is a time of huge excitement, but without a doubt one of the most exciting parts of the whole nine months is setting up the nursery. There’s nothing more fun than choosing a cot or artwork for the walls and picking out soft furnishings and putting everything together, imagining the memories (and yes, sleepless nights) that will happen between those four walls. But while your nursery will eventually be a place to play and grow and spend time as a family, fundamentally, it’s a place for your baby to sleep, which means getting the set-up right, with the perfect bassinet linen.
Whether you’re after a room full of baby blues or pretty in pink or your vibe is more gender-neutral, we’ve got a look for you.
Perfect to have as spares on standby for midnight nappy explosions or just as an everyday option if your style is neutral, clean, and simple.
Made from stretch jersey cotton so they’re naturally soft, breathable, and super warm, these sheets are great basics to have in your baby’s bedroom, whatever the season. Available in a two-pack, you can choose crisp white or gentle grey stars. Either way, they'll go with everything. Amazon's best-selling bassinet sheet, with reviewers agreeing they were "lovely and soft" and "very long-lasting."

Yes, we know: Boys can like pink and girls can like blue and everyone can like dinosaurs and princesses. We agree. We're just saying, if you're into more traditional colours when it comes to gender and nursery styling, these are good picks for the little men in your life.
Etsy is a treasure trove of gorgeous artists doing gorgeous things and we love this organic bedding range from DeGournay designs. There are heaps of different prints and patterns to choose from but we love this cute (but fierce) lion. And it’s not only available in a bassinet sheet, but also a pillowcase, crib sheet or even as a nursing pillow cover.

The best rule with sheets is that you want to have at least three - one on the bed, one in the wash, and one in the drawer. Any more than that is a bonus because trust us: accidents happen, and it never hurts to have a few extra sheets in the drawer for emergencies.
Just as with adult sheets, the higher the thread count, the softer the sheet. If you’re looking at buying a few cheaper sheets just to have as back-ups (and tbh, we recommend this) then it doesn’t really matter if they’re thin, but for regular use, it’s a good idea to invest in a slightly higher thread count for better comfort and breathability.
When it comes to your baby's sleeping environment, you want it to be as soft and comfy as possible, but considering the fact that many babies have super sensitive and delicate skin, it helps if the fabric is hypoallergenic, low-irritant and breathable. We generally recommend cotton or cotton-blend fabric. Bamboo is also a great choice (especially in summer) and cotton-jersey can work well in winter.
